The memorial of Andi Goldberger can be admired at the village square.
In addition to 20 World Cup victories, Andreas Goldberger (born 1972) has achieved numerous other podium finishes and top ten places in his 14-year ski jumping career, making him one of the most successful ski jumpers of the 1990s. On the occasion of the annual village festival, he was awarded honorary citizenship by his home community of Waldzell on 30 July 2006. In recognition of his achievements, the municipality had a life-size statue of Goldberger made, which was ceremoniously unveiled on that day. The statue is an exact replica of the top athlete, who was scanned by HDEMC for its production. Based on the resulting 3D data, an exact copy of Goldberger was later milled from plastic and painted in gold colour by the specialist joinery Spitzbart. The monument to the honorary citizen can now be admired on the village square.
