Museum Obernberg am Inn

The Obernberg Museum in the historic Gurtentor houses a unique collection of handicraft exhibits and shows the interesting history of the market town of Obernberg am Inn.

The local history and culture association is committed to preserving and redesigning the collections, while at the same time providing cultural activities for the community, the surrounding region and all guests with numerous events throughout the year.

Rafting and shipping on the River Inn are important focal points of the Heimathaus museum. Sacred objects can be found here, as well as evidence of fishing on the Inn. In addition, one of the few examples of the so-called "Umtragbilder" is owned by the museum and is exhibited there from time to time. It is a depiction of the Virgin Mary as a pregnant woman. According to old tradition, this picture was carried from house to house, hence the name "Umtragbild". In the rustic TOWER above the market square, you can get in the mood for the "scary tales".
