Theatre has a long tradition in Mettmach. Before the theatre community, it was the fraternities, fire brigades etc. that took to the stage. Shortly after the Second World War there was a theatre group whose heart and initiator was the master painter Hatheier. This group was joined by the young men Georg Vorhauer, Josef Hager and Erst Stranzinger, who had returned home from the war, and on 1 October 1946 they founded what is now the Mettmach Theatre Community, with Vorhauer as chairman and Hager and Stranzinger as deputies.
