In addition to its numerous humanitarian and social activities, in the years around 1990 the Ried Lions Club discussed the question of where cultural involvement in the region would make sense. In view of the 100th anniversary of Schatzdorfer's birth, a group led by Dr Hans Leeb came to the conclusion that it was necessary to stand up for Hans Schatzdorfer so that his outstanding dialect poetry would not be forgotten. Thus, on 30 January 1991, the constituent meeting of the association "Supporters of the work of Prof. Hans Schatzdorfer" took place. In addition to the aforementioned main initiator Dr Hans Leeb, Anneliese Ratzenböck and Dir.Gertraud Stöckler-Schatzdorfer, the poet's youngest daughter, were also among the founding members. The merits of this first trio of leaders for the association cannot be honoured enough. In addition to numerous cultural events, it was in particular the renovation of the Schatzdorfer house in Großpiesenham, which was organised by the association and through which the house and the carpenter's workshop of the poet and violin maker were preserved. On the one hand, this preserved an important memorial site for the association, but on the other, it also gave it something of a small artistic "home" and identity.
