Naturium am Inn is the visitor, nature conservation and environmental education center at the Lower Inn European Nature Reserve, which opened in 2020. Here you can experience nature without borders - in the truest sense of the word: in two exhibitions in Ering (Bavaria) and Frauenstein (Upper Austria) and at a total of six experience stations, there is plenty to discover and marvel at.
Lower Inn European Nature Reserve - an important hub in the intercontinental network of waterfowl habitats. The Bavarian-Upper Austrian Lower Inn European Nature Reserve stretches across the border for 55 kilometers of river from the mouth of the Salzach near the village of Haiming, downstream to Neuhaus/Schärding.
It consists of water areas, mud banks and islands covering an area of around 5500 hectares. In this nature and bird sanctuary there are still untouched riparian forests and numerous water and other birds. Rare plants and animals, such as the beaver, can also be found here.
History: The Romans called the Inn AENUS, the foaming one. Until the middle of the 19th century, it remained the most unrestrained Alpine river with its meandering course and widely branching tributaries.
