Residents of Innviertel Area are noted for being very self-assured. This is perfectly proven by the rural tools that were used by farmhands in fights and brawls. The Medieval "Gurtentor" Structure today houses the Local Heritage Museum.
Prior to May 01, the annual opening of the exhibition, guided tours can be arranged anytime by appointment!
Vernacular furnishings, traditional costumes, artifacts, and photographs are on display to depict the seasonal round of activities that shaped the lives and culture of the Innviertel Area's farm families. The essence of this Local Heritage MUSEUM is captured in presenting the history of raftsmen and shipping on Inn River. Exhibits also include religious items and equipment telling the story of Inn River fishing. An absolute MUST in Innviertel Area is to show unique tools used in fights and brawls.
Among the Museum´s most noticeable features is a so-called "Umtragbild", a picture depicting Saint Mary as expectant mother. Deeply rooted in tradition, this picture once was carried from home to home.
The quaint TOWER that dominated the Market Square is just the right place to get into the right mood for some fine "HORROR STORIES"...
