Some of the girls in the youth choir were planning to organise a mass and really wanted to sing the song "Oh happy day". They needed male voices for this - these were quickly found and under the direction of Günther Wiesbauer, the Riedberg Choir project could begin.
The choir was supported by Dorli Wiesbauer, who accompanied the singers on the keyboard and piano. The choir was soon in demand for weddings and events. This was followed by concerts and performances on a larger scale.
The demands on the music and interpretation increased over time. Günther Wiesbauer trained as a choirmaster and attended seminars. The repertoire was constantly updated and expanded. Guest musicians and soloists supported the choir time and again.
One of the highlights of the choir's life was the professional recording of a CD in a recording studio.
After more than 25 years as choirmaster, Günther Wiesbauer handed over the baton to his son Andreas Wiesbauer in 2011. Andreas succeeded in bridging the gap between tried-and-tested and new songs.
After 32 years of outstanding work by the Wiesbauer family in building up the choir, we entered a new phase in 2018 with their support: Richter Grimbeek, choirmaster and singing, piano and saxophone teacher, has been the choir's musical director ever since.
Community is very important in the choir. Many friendships have already been forged during many celebrations and joint excursions (e.g. to London, Florence or Prague). If you would like to experience this community: choir members are always welcome!
